TSKHINVALI, South Ossetia -- South Ossetia's Interior Ministry says a policeman missing for several days was likely detained by Georgian security forces, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Soslan Bukhayev, 47, left home on July 24 in an area near the border between South Ossetia to try to locate some missing livestock. He has not been seen since then.

Shota Utiashvili, the head of the Georgian Interior Ministry's Information Department, told RFE/RL that it could neither confirm nor deny reports about the alleged abduction of Bukhayev by Georgian police.
