Suspected U.S. Drone Attack Kills At Least Five In Pakistan

TEXT SIZE - +
Pakistani security officials say missiles fired from a pilotless U.S. drone aircraft killed at least five suspected militants in a tribal region of Pakistan near the Afghan border.

The officials said the attack targeted a house in the Ghulam Khan area of North Waziristan.

The region is a hotbed of militant activity by Taliban and Al-Qaeda fighters who carry out crossborder raids on NATO-led forces in Afghanistan.

The United States has recently intensified missile attacks from unmanned aircraft against suspected Islamist militants in Pakistan's tribal regions.

More than 200 people have been killed in more than 40 strikes since the beginning of September.
