Tatneft Looking At More Oil Projects In Libya

KAZAN (RFE/RL) -- Tatneft, one of Russia's top oil producers, says it is prepared to extend its oil exploration projects in Libya, RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service reports.

Tatneft officials said at a briefing in Kazan that they have concrete plans to broaden their activities in Libya.

The Russian and Libyan leaders, Dmitry Medvedev and Muammar Qaddafi, agreed last week in Moscow to improve cooperation in oil and gas extraction.

Tatneft has been operating in Libya's oil market since 2005. In 2006, it acquired three more oil projects.

Tatneft's activities in Libya are regulated by a 2007 agreement with Libya's National Oil Corporation.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
