Persian Letters

'This Is The Islamic Republic'

TEXT SIZE - +
Blogger "The Writings from the Heart of a Citizen Journalist" writes about a young boy he saw in central Tehran who was forced to work to help his family make ends meet:

Today I went to the Revolution Square to buy books, and there I saw a heartrending scene. An 8- or 9-year-old boy was making some money with a scale he had while at the same time doing his homework. He was also selling a few toys.

Of course, there are many such scenes in our Islamic country, a country that is Islamic only in name and there is no sign of Islam in it.

I asked the boy what his father was doing. He said he sells vegetables at Emamzadeh Hassan [a bazaar in southern Tehran], and he said he's forced to work to help with the expenses. I gave him a 1,000-tuman [about $10] bill to try to make him happy and also make a contribution even though small.

Creative translation of the story by not translating some sentences that would have given a different colour to it ! Sad story. Howerver, the blogger obviously has not been to India and sees the problem somehow unique to Iran. By the way 1000 tomans is not 10 dollars. It is less than one dollar.

This boy who so intently ignores street distractions to do his home work will eventually become another Omar Khayam. His family is poor because the regime in Tehran gives petro-dollars that belong to the Iranian poor to the Arab Palestinians. They make more brouhaha about the Palestinians than the families who can barely put food on the table.
Focusing on anti-Israeli-anti Western ideology has destroyed the Iranian economy. It’s going to get worst!

One of the many glorious achievements of 31 years of " Islamic Republic of Iran " : our daughters have to prostitute themselves to Arabs and others just to survive.....
Iran has more hydrocarbon reserves (natural gas and oil combined ) than Saudi Arabia ; with the right policies Iran could have become a very rich country by now ......

The writer of the story is sadly mistaken about Islam. Actually Islam is on display in Iran. Islam is about corruption, violence, and duplicity!
