Ashgabat Promises Democratic Reforms

Turkmenistan has promised a visiting EU delegation that democratic reforms are on the horizon in the isolated nation.

The Turkmen Khabarlary news agency quoted Turkmen officials as telling EU officials that "full-scale work is under way in the country aimed at strengthening people's welfare, democratic traditions, and creating real guarantees for citizens to fulfil their personal, political, economic, social, and other rights."
