MOSCOW -- Deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) and A Just Russia party say they will return to the State Duma on October 16, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The two parties and members of the Communist Party walked out of the Duma's session on October 14 in protest of the national municipal elections held in Russia on October 11 which they say were fixed.
The deputies said they would not return to the Duma until President Dmitry Medvedev meets with them to discuss the numerous "violations in the elections."
But LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky told journalists on October 15 that his faction will return for the Duma's session because the deputies' goal of having Medvedev hear their demands was reached. Leaders of A Just Russia have also announced their intention to return to the Duma on October 16.
The Communist Party, however, announced today that it will not return to the Duma.
Medvedev's press secretary, Natalya Timakova, told RFE/RL that the exact date for Medvedev's meeting with the parties' representatives is not known. She said the meeting was scheduled for the end of this month, however, the opposition leaders requested that it be held sooner.
