Ukraine's interior minister says he believes a journalist who was reported missing earlier this month is likely dead, and that security forces are suspected of involvement in the disappearance.

Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohylyov made his remarks today on Ukrainian television. He gave no further details about the case.

Vasyl Klymentyev, the editor of the "Novyy Styl" weekly newspaper in the eastern city of Kharkiv, was reported missing on August 11.

The newspaper he works for is known for exposing corruption.

Media rights groups have expressed concern about a deterioration of media freedom in Ukraine.
