A court in Ingushetia says a verdict in the trial of the policeman accused of killing website owner Magomed Yevloyev is expected on December 11, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Yevloyev served as a prosecutor in Ingushetia before moving to Moscow, where he set up the independent ingushetia.ru in 2001.

The website systematically reported about corruption and malpractice within Ingushetia's government.

Yevloyev was shot dead on August 31, 2008, while being taken from Magas airport to a police station for interrogation.

Interior Ministry official Ibragim Yevloyev -- no relation to the victim -- was arrested as a suspect in the killing and charged with manslaughter.

Investigators insist that Magomed Yevloyev was killed by accident.

His colleagues and family say it was a premeditated murder.

The prosecution has demanded a two-year prison term for Ibragim Yevloyev.
