Zionists Waiting To Kill Hidden Imam, Says Iranian Cleric

Mojtaba Zolnour, deputy representative of Iran's supreme leader in the Revolutionary Guard, has said that "Zionists" are waiting for the Hidden Imam to appear to kill him.

Hojatoleslam Zolnour made the comments earlier this week at Qom University.

He was quoted as saying that "Zionists" have security plans for Muslim pilgrimage sites including Mecca, Karbala, and other sites where he said it was likely that the Hidden Imam could appear. The Hidden Imam or the Promised Mahdi is the 12th imam of Shi'ite Islam, who Muslims believe will appear to bring peace and justice on Earth and put an end to tyranny.

"They've told their soldiers to kill immediately whomever they see with the characteristics [of the Hidden Imam] and not even take the risk to arrest him because he is a very awesome and dangerous person," Zolnour said.

Last December, Iran's President Mahmud Ahmadinejad accused the United States of doing all it could to prevent the return of Imam Mahdi.

"We have documented proof that they [U.S. leaders] believe that a descendant of the prophet of Islam will raise in these parts [the Middle East] and he will dry the roots of all injustice in the world. They have devised all these plans to prevent the coming of the Hidden Imam because they know that the Iranian nation is the one that will prepare the ground for his coming and will be the supporters of his rule," he said.

Ahmadinejad did not say what documents he had to prove his claim, nor did Zolnour, who said that all the characteristics that were given about the Hidden Imam in the Koran and Hadith had been "extracted" by the "Zionists," who have given them to their "soldiers in Iraq."

Since the coming to power of Ahmadinejad, who appears to believe that the return of the Promised Mahdi is imminent, the emphasis on the absent Imam has increased in the Islamic republic, leading to criticism by some over what they see as the promotion of superstitious beliefs by Iranian officials.

Iran's former top nuclear negotiator, Hassan Rohani, was quoted as saying in 2008 that superstition was growing in the Islamic republic and that people were even putting out food for the Mahdi in case he returned that very night.

Accumulation of wealth has given these guys the time and the luxury to indulge themselves in superstition.
Emmam Mehdi is probably wondering why IQs in some political religious circle in Iran are dropping when so many Iranians in Iran are desperate to put food on their family table. He rather side with the Iranian families than side with a regime which sees imaginary enemies in every nook and cranny. He will bestow more attention and comfort on the Iranian families than on this gentleman cleric who has just made an outrageous prediction about his destiny as an Emmam.
I can only say one thing about the cleric in your article. He has a lot of nerve!
He needs to go back to the Shia theological seminaries in Quom and Mashhad and update his religious studies. They will also teach him not to make such outlandish speeches.

If this Hidden Imam does return to end tyranny, perhaps he'll start with the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. They should be careful what they wish for.

The comming of the immam also explains that there will be war, death and destruction before the Mahdi shows himself. The people that believe in the second comming of the Immam Mahdi believe in this and it is almost like an apocalyps prophecy. Iran and other groups that believe in this "story" would also believe that if they bring on the "Great war" before the return of the Immam then they will speed up this return. In the past Khomenei (The previous "Supreme" Leader) stated in a speach that nuclear weapons are allowed and that it is actually responsibility of Iran to get these weapons for the benifit of Islam. Imagine these bombs in the hands of people that beleive that they need to bring on the apocolyps or the end of the world as we know it to be dominated by Shia islam. Heaven Forbid!!

"Imagine these bombs in the hands of people that beleive that they need to bring on the apocolyps or the end of the world as we know it to"

You mean the Ziocons and the Christian right? No need to imagine, they *have* these bombs already!

Would not the Hidden Imam appear in some divine form, not mortal?

…because he is a very awesome and dangerous person

Like, dude, if the Mahdi is, like, so awesome, can’t he just, like, kill the Jews with his awesome mind powers or something?

They're really losing it, if they think they can justify anything because of the return of some hidden Imam. Lord help us if these lunatics get their hands on nuclear weapons.

hidden imam ? why is he hidden and for how long he has been hidden?
why Jews want to kill him if he is going to bring justice to the world?
Justice is justice, it's not a religion,it's not Islam,it's not Judaism.
Last but not least, IS HIDDEN IMAM A HUMAN?

Islam glorifies death by calling its murderers the soldiers of allah. Islam preaches superiority of the "we" and inferiority of the "other." it is a creed steeped in superstition, demands blind obedience to authority, and sanctions just about every form of freedom. Everything in islam is in black and white. One is either muslim -- good -- or non-muslim -- bad. Men are superior; women are subservient. This life is worthless and should be offered for the pleasure of allah as defined by the evil clergy.

Islam is a creed of a primitive age. It is fixated in time and place; it harbors the ambition of taking the 21st-century world back fourteen centuries and ruling it by its dogma of intolerance, injustice, and death. Yet islam is not only an obsolete vestige of a defunct era, but itself is an infinitely fractured belief that can hardly put its own home in order. The numerous islamic sects are at each other's throats; sub-sects and schools despise one another as much as they hate the non-muslims. Hatred, not love, drives islam.

We have to try and avoid the yoke of islamic slavery and its blinders that imprison a billion and half people by walls of superstition, hatred of others, and celebration of death.

I'm confused. Why would the Israelis want to kill Bowie's hot Somali wife? And why is Joe Mantegna wearing a turban?
