At Least 19 Killed In Afghan Attacks

At least 11 Afghans, seven militants, and one NATO soldier have been reported killed in a series of attacks and clashes in southern Afghanistan.

NATO said three gunmen wearing police uniforms opened fire on NATO soldiers in Kandahar Province, killing one soldier.

In another incident in Kandahar, officials said gunmen, also dressed in police uniforms, shot dead three Afghan police.

In the Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar, officials said seven militants were reported killed in fighting with U.S. soldiers after launching an attack with light weapons and suicide explosive vests on a U.S. base.

Unconfirmed reports said 10 U.S. soldiers were injured.

In a fourth incident, in neighboring Helmand Province, at least eight Afghan civilians were reported killed and five injured by a roadside bomb on June 17.
