Roadside Bomb Kills Three Afghan Police

Afghan officials say at least three police officers have been killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Laghman Province.

A spokesman for the provincial governor said four other officers were wounded when the blast hit a police vehicle in Badpakh district on August 14.

Nobody has claimed responsibility.

Taliban insurgents frequently target Afghan police and soldiers, as well as U.S.-led coaltion forces, in roadside bombings.

Most coalition troops are to pull out by the end of the year, with Afghan forces taking the lead in operations against the Taliban.

The persistent violence adds to concerns about Afghanistan's future amid political tension following a disputed presidential election.
