Armenia Says Three Arrested For Spying For Azerbaijan

Armenia's National Security Service says three individuals have been arrested and accused of spying for Baku.

The National Security Service said on June 25 that a female officer in the Armenian Army, Mane Movsisian, was arrested in Armenia three days previously for allegedly providing Azerbaijan with classified information via the Internet.

Another of the accused is an army officer with the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, which broke away from Azerbaijan in the 1990s.

That officer and a third person were both arrested in the Armenian-majority region.

The statement says all three were recruited by Azerbaijan's secret services via social networks.

Armenia, which controls Nagorno-Karabakh and several surrounding Azerbaijani districts, has been locked in a dispute with Baku for more than two decades over the region.

Years of internationally-mediated talks have failed to resolve the conflict.
