Two Men Wanted After Attack On Djindjic's Sister

17 May 2004 -- Serbian police are searching for two men who attacked the sister of Serbia's assassinated prime minister Zoran Djindjic.

The Serbian Interior Ministry said in a statement that two attackers broke into the family's weekend cottage near the western town of Valjevo late on 15 May and injected an unknown liquid into the arm of Gordana Djindjic-Filipovic.

Djindjic-Filipovic is recovering in hospital. Doctors are testing her for toxic substances, but do not believe her life is in danger.

Local radio B-92 reports the attackers told Djindjic-Filipovic they would kill her family if the main suspect in the former premier's murder, Milorad Lukovic, is convicted.

Lukovic is charged with having masterminded the assassination of Djindjic on 12 March 2003. He turned himself in to police earlier this month and appeared in court on 10 May.
