Suicide Bombers Kill At Least 24 In Iraq

February 07, 2005

7 February 2005 -- Suicide bombers killed at least 24 people and wounded many others in two separate attacks in the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Ba'qubah today.

One of the attacks was a suicide car bombing outside a police station in Ba'qubah, northeast of Baghdad. Most of those killed and injured in the attack were police officers.

An Al-Qaeda-linked group claimed responsibility for the other attack in northern Mosul, saying one of its members entered a crowd before detonating an explosive device.

An Iraqi health official, Rabia Yassin, said the attack targeted police who were gathering at the hospital to collect their salaries.

Police said that attack was a car bombing.
