Police said at least 20 others were injured in today's blast, which happened at a restaurant popular with local police.

The explosion today came shortly after British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw arrived in Iraq's capital for talks with Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Ja'fari.

Straw arrives one day after the defense team in Saddam Hussein's trial said it will not show up for the next court session on 28 November 28 unless the court accepts demands for "neutral international intervention" to guarantee security. Their declaration on 9 November followed the assassination of a second defense lawyer in the triala day earlier .

In a separate development, police are searching for armed men who kidnapped the brother of parliamentary speaker Hajim al-Hassani in the northern city of Kirkuk on 8 November.
