20 December 2005 -- The United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) gave the go-ahead today for the province to establish justice and interior ministries.
Kosovo Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi said on 20 December that the creation of the new ministries strengthens the new image of Kosovo as a democratic and European entity.
Kosovo is a Serb province under UN administration.
Jean Dussourd, the UN's special representative for police and justice, described the decision as proof of the UN's confidence in Kosovo's capacity to assume new responsibilities.
