U.S. House Appropriates $50 Billion For Iraq, Afghan Operations

23 December 2005 -- The United States House of Representatives has approved a $453 billion spending bill to fund America's military.

The measure, which was passed by the Senate earlier this week, includes some $50 billion for U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.


The bill now goes to U.S. President George W. Bush, who is expected to sign it into law.


The measure also includes some $29 billion for rebuilding infrastructure on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico coast that was destroyed by August's Hurricane Katrina.
