Police say five people were killed when their car hit a roadside bomb in Al-Khalis, some 60 kilometers north of Baghdad, the Iraqi capital. The bomb was placed outside the local offices of the Sunni Arab-led Iraqi Islamic Party.

The Interior Ministry said two separate bomb attacks in Baghdad resulted in the deaths of at least two policemen.

Police also say three Iraqis, including a policeman, were kidnapped in the morning some 35 kilometers east of Tikrit, in northern Iraq.
