(RFE/RL)

19 January 2006 -- European Union peacekeepers have uncovered the largest weapons cache that they have ever found in Bosnia.

EUFOR (European Union Force) released a statement saying that the cache was found in a bunker in northwest Bosnia.

EUFOR says the haul includes a rocket launcher, more than 700 mines and mortars, grenades, and other explosives.

EUFOR took over peacekeeping operations in Bosnia from NATO in 2004. EUFOR troops regularly conduct search operations for weapons caches left over from the 1992-95 Bosnia war.
