Suspected Bomb Maker Captured In Afghanistan

8 February 2006 -- The U.S. military said today a man suspected of manufacturing and supplying bombs for insurgents has been captured in southern Afghanistan.

The man was detained in a raid in the city of Kandahar by Afghan and coalition forces late on 7 February.

The statement said Afghan security forces have foiled several suicide and roadside bombing plots in Kandahar Province in recent weeks, but gave no details.

A suicide bomber killed 13 people on 7 February when he set off explosives outside police headquarters in the city of Kandahar.
