MOSCOW, April 24, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Russian police today reported that a Tajik man was killed in a knife attack in Moscow.

Police said assailants stabbed two men from Tajikistan in eastern Moscow on April 24. One victim died on the way to hospital and the other is being treated in intensive care.

There was no immediate information on the identity of the attackers or their motive.

The attack came a day after an Armenian was killed after the group in which he was standing in a Moscow metro station was set upon by six or seven youths.

The spokesman of the Moscow prosecutor's office, Sergei Marchenko, said police had arrested "a schoolboy from one of Moscow's schools, born in 1989." He has apparently confessed to his involvement in the murder.
