Kyrgyz Oppositionists Protest Against Crime

OSH, Kyrgyzstan, April 26, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- About 30 members of the opposition Union of Democratic forces held a peaceful rally in Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan to protest against criminality and call for democratic reforms.

The rally organizers, including the former governor of Osh Province, Anvar Artykov, accused the head of the presidential administration, Usen Sydykov, and Adam Zakirov, the province's current governor of "provocative attempts" to prevent the rally.


There has been no reaction yet from the local government.
