Baha'is Arrested In Iran

May 25, 2006 -- Representatives of the Baha'i religion say Iranian authorities have detained 54 Baha'is in the city of Shiraz.

The Baha'i community's representative to the UN, Bani Dugal, said the arrests took place on May 19 while the Baha'is were teaching classes organized by the UN children's program, UNICEF.


Dugal said the charges against the detainees are not yet known.
