U.S. Rejects North Korean Offer Of Talks

June 1, 2006 -- The United States today rejected a North Korean offer for a U.S. envoy to visit Pyongyang for talks on the country's controversial nuclear program.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said there would be no bilateral talks with North Korea, and any negotiations will take place within a six-nation framework.


North Korea had made the invitation with the condition that the United States relax its financial restrictions on Pyongyang.
