Retrial Of Bulgarian Nurses Resumes In Libya

July 25, 2006 -- The retrial of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor charged with infecting hundreds of Libyan children with the AIDS virus has resumed in Tripoli.

The six were arrested in 1999 and sentenced to death in 2004, but the country's Supreme Court ordered a retrial last December.


All the defendants say they are innocent, and two of the nurses claim they were tortured during interrogation.
