Iran Denies Aiding Hizballah

July 30, 2006 -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi today denied that Iran is helping Hizballah in its fight against Israel in Lebanon.

Asefi said Iran has not deployed any forces in Lebanon, has not sent any weapons, and does not support Hizballah militarily.

He also said if Iran decides to give Hizballah military support, the country will announce it.

(INTRO) Israel has blamed Iran for two bombings targeting its diplomats in India and Georgia this week, as well as for a botched bombing in Bangkok that Thai intelligence officials said were aimed at top Israeli diplomats.
