September 7, 2006 -- The International Committee of the Red Cross says it has received permission to visit 14 terror suspects transferred to the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba.

The suspects are being held by U.S. authorities at the military base, pending trial.

President George W. Bush made the disclosure on September 6 that 14 Al-Qaeda suspects held by the United States had been transferred from secret prisons to the Guantanamo Bay facility.

It was the first time that Bush acknowledged the existence of overseas prisons operated by the CIA.

The suspects who have been transferred to Guantanamo include Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, the alleged architect of the September 11, 2001,  terrorist attacks against the United States.
