Hussein Says He Will Boycott Kurdish Genocide Trial

December 5, 2006 -- Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has told the chief judge in his Kurdish genocide trial that he no longer wants to attend the hearings and is ready to face the consequences.

In a handwritten statement made available to The Associated Press, Hussein cites what he claims are repeated "insults" by Chief Judge Muhammad al-Uraybi and prosecutors trying him in connection with the Anfal campaign in 1987-88.
