Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu had criticized Ungureanu for failing to inform the government about the two workers' detention.

The two had been held since October 31 for taking pictures without permission on a U.S. base where they worked.

They were freed today after coalition authorities determined they had no ill intent.

Romania, a staunch U.S. ally, has some 600 troops in Iraq.
