Ingushetia Denies Two Russian Soldiers Killed

May 02, 2007

May 2, 2007 -- Ingushetia's Interior Ministry has denied reports that two Russian soldiers were killed in an explosion in the Russian republic.

Ministry spokesman Nadir Yevloyev said the two soldiers were wounded in the blast, but survived.

The blast, caused by an unidentified explosive device, occurred early on May 1 near the village of Ali Yurt, in the south of the republic.

Russian troops regularly carry out operations in the region to hunt down Chechen rebels.
