U.S. Diplomat Meets Kyrgyz Officials

BISHKEK, June 8, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher, on a visit to Kyrgyzstan, met in Bishkek today with Foreign Minister Ednan Karabaev, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reported.

Boucher is due to meet later today with President Kurmanbek Bakiev and Prime Minister Almaz Atambaev.


On June 7, he met with the leaders of several Kyrgyz nongovernmental organizations in Bishkek. Those talks focused on Kyrgyzstan's constitutional reforms, press freedom, and the delivery of $20 million by Washington to help reform Kyrgyzstan's judiciary.
