Police there said the suspect was stopped at Brisbane airport. He is the eighth suspect being held.

The Australian attorney-general said the suspect was a 27-year-old doctor -- like two of those already arrested.

U.K. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said Britain was facing a "serious and sustained threat of terrorism" and urged the public to remain alert.
