UNITED NATIONS -- Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has accused Armenia of "flagrant" violations of the UN Charter and disregard for the Security Council resolutions.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Mammadyarov said that as a result of Armenia's "aggression" in Nagorno-Karabakh almost 20 percent of the Azerbaijan territory continues to be under occupation.

"For almost two decades we have been facing the flagrant violation of the UN Charter and other documents of international law by the Republic of Armenia, which perpetrated aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan," Mammadyarov said.

There are four Security Council resolutions since 1993 over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karakbakh.

Armenia and Azerbaijan regularly trade accusations at the UN.

In each UN resolution there was a demand to Azerbaijan to withdraw its forces and stop killing Armenians of Artsakh (NKR/Nagorno Karabakh).

Each time Azerbaijan broke its promises and launched a new offensive. Each time it happened, Armenian self defense forces managed to liberate more Armenian lands.

Finally, after hundreds of Turkish military instructors, dozens of Russian and Ukrainian pilots, thousands of Mujaheddins from Afghanistan, tanks, assault helicopters, fighter jets and bombers, didn't help to ethnically cleanse Artsakh from Armenians, Azeri dictator and former KGB general, Heydar Aliyev signed a cease fire agreement between Azerbaijan and Artsakh.

Armenians of Artsakh used their Constitutional right by voting not to be in the Azerbaijan Republic after it left Soviet Union breaking all laws. In response to Armenian peaceful action Azerbaijan Republic launched a brutal war against civilian population of Artsakh and ethnic Armenians living in Azerbaijan proper.

Hundreds of thousands of Armenian civilians were ethically cleansed from their ancestral lands now controlled by Azerbaijan Sultanate. Artsakh Armenians managed to defend their lands, children and democratic government and now have 20 year track record of being independent self governing stable country.

UN, warns both sides to stop war and highlights withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied territories of Azerbaijan. It's clear and obvious from UN resolutions nothing said about that Azerbaijan occupied territory of neighbour state or something similar. Even more nothing said about liberated territories as well as
No need to blame everyone including RFE that they post pro-Azerbaijani information
, truth is not what represents the most of Armenian propagandist sources.

I knew that these Azeri Turk copy cats would be tempted to steal this tactic of publicizing the websites as they did with stealing my web name (Taxpayer) - these people have nothing to offer on their own - just stealing ideas and claiming their own to get paid/funded from the Heydar Aliyev Foundation or other Mehriban-hanum funded enterprises. Keep gathering crumbs from underneath our table.

It is laughable that Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of occupation, aggression, scuttling the peace process when Azerbaijan boasts about its $3 Billion military budget from their oil revenues, how they will liberate their lands by force, ridiculous comments such as Yerevan should not have been given to the Armenians. You do not hear such war mongering from Armenia. Armenia has nothing to gain from renewed war. Neither does Azerbaijan but they are too puerile to realize it. Only credit I can give Ilham Aliyev is that so far he has not been as foolish as he could be to start a all out offensive.

OMG what a liar! PLEASE READ what the UN resolutions actually say:

For almost two decades Armenia had been in flagrant violation of the UN Charter and other documents of international law through its occupation of the Azerbaijani territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding districts. As a result of this aggression, almost 20 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan continues to remain under occupation and about one million Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons are unable to return to their homes.

In 1993, the United Nations Security Council adopted four resolutions, which demanded the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from ail the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and reaffirmed the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan. The same appeals were made by other international organizations too

I liked the picture of Elmar that was posted here yesterday. Why did RFERL had to change it? It was a true representation of Mr. Mammadyarov's soul.

This is not the first time RFERL goes back and "edits" its stories in favor of Azerbaijan. Especially pictures like the shore of the Caspian Lake that Azeri Oil crooks turned into a dump was later changed to some neutral view of oil platforms.

It seems that Azeri propaganda masters have a great deal of influence on RFERL's freedom of journalistic expression...

And somebody at RFERL paid by American taxpayers actually have to get the message and run to find a better picture, pull out the one that was not acceptable to your Azeri sponsors and upload the new one? How long does it take? Even if it's 30 minutes, it's a salary and resources paid by American taxpayers to satisfy the taste of the corrupt regime ruling the Azeri Turk Sultanate.

So basically, all the comments here are saying that Armenia does not care about international law, not surprising really, but quote pathetic.

What is really ridiculous is that Armenians, being the aggressors have the nerve to hurl abuse at Azeri’s. This really speaks volumes about the Armenian mentality. Narrow minded, unilateral propagandists.

Just remember that you reap what you sow.

Wow nice comment James, you have probably met an Armenian in your miserable life. Please keep dumb comments to yourself. No one that has ever known an Armenian would make an idiotic comment as yours.

One last thing James, before accusing Armenians of such thing I would go back and try to understand what happened, what where the circumstances and then make comments. Azeris just try to interpret History as it fits better for them. Try to look at things from both sides before you make a comment.

If you want to call defending you family, defending your home, defending your place of birth aggression, then be it.

I guess next you will try to defend Turkey as to what happen to the Armenians, it must of been an aggression by Armenians that forced Turkey to commit a Genocide.

Please, don't try to rewrite history, when making a comment understand what you are saying. Don't repeat a comment from an Azeri.

Titan,

1) Look at the abuse Armenian propagandists post here and all over the web

2) Read the UN resolutions

3) Use your analytical mind

Armenia, is nothing but a failed economically bankrupt pupet state run by Russia and Iran for their interests in the energy sector. If Russia/Iran were not interested, Armenia would be no more. Armenian people, like sheep, blindly follow and spurt the same lies that their corrupt government feeds them.

Once again, read the UN resolutions and Helsinki documents. Armenia is an aggressor, whom with the military backing of Russia and trade support from Iran and Russia, is illegally occupying sovereign Azeri land. You can spin it any which way you like, but law is law and Armenia is the criminal, these are facts. I suggest you and other like you stop trying to lie your way out of the corruption you got yourself in to. People aren’t blind and its blatantly obvious what is going on.

James buddy, the law may be the law, but so were the Nuremburg laws (you google them and see what they were). Being the law does not make it morally right. The only people "occupying" karabagh are the karabagh armenians, and they receive Armenian support in the same way Taiwan receives US support. The initial UN resolutions directed BOTH sides of the conflict to withdraw and withhold use of military force. And the Helsinki documents speak to peoples UNQUALIFIED right to self-determination. So get your facts straight before you continue race-slandering Armenians and suggesting Turks and Azeri's are free of any fault.

Hi Greg, I think you will find that all 4 UN resolutions state that Armenia has to withdraw from occupied land. The Helsinki docs also state that Armenia is the occupier. In both cases this is the operative judgement, which has been violated for 2 decades. The idea that this is some sort of conspiracy is ridiculous, that's just Armenia's way of trying to justify their occupation, especially tying in the Azeris with Turks in an ethnic way, despite the fact that over 90% of Azeris are indigenous to the area. Funny enoung a lot of the research that supports this has been done by Armenian genealogists.

James, i am not sure what helsinki documents you are referring to. I was referring to the Helsinki Accords of 1975. See article 8. My comments also did not talk about any conspiracy. My comment about turks and azeri's was this, when it comes to their relationship with Armenia, turks and azeri's consider armenians to be 100% at fault in every aspect of the history that has transpired between them since the 19th century. You know for a fact that the concept of fault lying entirely on one side of history is an abject falsehood. If you really believe armenians are 100% at fault in everything, then you are engaging in the same logic that Nazi "social scientists" used in the 1930s when they accumulated their so-called documentation justifying the German government's policies toward the jewish people.

Hi Greg,

I’m strictly referring to the “word of the law” so to speak, as stated in the several UN resolutions on this conflict.

Also, I don’t think it is accurate to lump Azeri’s and Turks in to one group. Azeri’s are majority (over 90%) indigenous to the area. Turks are a mixture of indigenous populations spanning from the Far East to the borders of Europe.

James Bulger I think you are blind! Who's puppet is Azerbaijan? Armenian, Iranian and Russian have common enemy which are Truks who want pan turkism. They want Turkey to stretch from African to Chine. They have try this pan turkism for almost 600 years and it never worked out. Armenia is now only 10% of what is was before Turks appeared. Nagorno-Karabakh was given to Turks by Stalin and it did not crunch azeri thirst and they wanted Armenia. So they started war and they got their asses kicked. Also as much as Armenia needs Iran and Russia they need Armenia as well!!

George, not that this is your real name.

1) Turkic people already stretch from China to Africa
2) Azerbaijan had no interests in war with Armenia. Armenia due to its lack of resources and Russia’s want to control Azeri resources instigated a war with Armenia. Azerbaijan had no motive for such action. Armenia and Russia did and still do (as well as Iran).
3) Armenia brings nothing to the table in terms of resources or arms; it’s just a conveniently located puppet with the right history to stir hatred.

Seems that people like yourself are so easily led by your corrupt government, unless of course you get paid to flout this propaganda nonsense. Seriously, have a think about it, your argument and premise make no logical sense, but hey, if you want to be a puppet then carry on, at least it provides good entertainment for children.

James Bulger: I hope James is your real name! Because George is mine.

Anyways, Turks have only one thing in their minds and it is to get rid of Armenia which is a little wall that divides the Turenic nations from uniting. Also NO one pays me to do what I do in this forum. I just do because I want the world to know the truth. Azeri did want to finish what Ottomans could not during WWI. If Russian base was not in Armenia then Armenia will be sucked from west (Turkey) and from right(Azerbaijan) in day or so. Again NO one is NO once puppet. It is just a national interest!!

Of course bankrupt Armenia, with its failed economy and ever dwindling population is going to again break international laws and invade Azerbaijan with its rusty old weapons!
