Deadly Bombings In Baghdad

A car bombing has killed 11 people and wounded some 40 in the Iraqi capital.

Officials said the parked car exploded on September 21 near a market in Baghdad's Shi'ite-majority area of Ameen.

The Islamic State (IS) extremist group claimed responsibility for the bombing, which also damaged several cars, saying it targeted Shi'ite militiamen.

IS militants, who overran large swathes of Iraq and Syria in June 2014, frequently targets members of Iraq's Shi’ite majority, whom it considers heretics.

In a separate incident, a roadside bomb killed at least two people and wounded five in Baghdad's northeastern district of Shaab.
