Bomb Derails Train In Southwest Pakistan

Pakistan officials say a bomb blast has derailed a train in the country's southwest, wounding at least eight people.

The attack took place on November 20 near the town of Dasht, 50 kilometers east of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan Province.

Railway official Suhail Ahmed said the explosion heavily damaged the train tracks and derailed several cars.

The separatist United Baluch Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for the recent abduction of their activists by government security forces.

Mineral-rich Balochistan has been the scene of a low-scale insurgency for years, with separatist groups demanding more autonomy and a greater share in the region's natural resources.

Balochistan has also been the scene of violence perpetrated by Islamic radicals.
