Authorities say five Russian police officers were killed and two others wounded when a female suicide bomber attacked a police checkpoint in Russia's volatile southern province of Daghestan.
The attack occurred late on March 6 in the village of Karabudakhkent, some 30 kilometers south of Daghestan's capital, Makhachkala.
Police have identified the bomber as Amiat Ibrahimova, who was said to be the widow of an insurgent fighter killed in a raid by security forces last month.
Russian media reports said she detonated a concealed bomb containing the equivalent of two kilograms of plastic explosives after approaching a police checkpoint.
In a separate attack on March 6 in the Daghestani town of Kaspiisk, police said two gunmen walked into a police precinct and opened fire, killing a police officer and a local resident.
