WATCH: Bosnia's Izetbegovic Honors Serb Victims Of Atrocities

Bosnian Muslim leader Bakir Izetbegovic has paid tribute to several dozen Serb civilians killed in Sarajevo during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

On June 13, Izetbegovic visited Kazani, on the heights of the Bosnian capital, where at least 30 Serbs were killed and dumped in a ravine by a Bosnian Muslim paramilitary group.

It was the first visit by a Bosniak leader to the site.

Izetbegovic laid flowers on the edge of the ravine.

"I feel I have a debt” toward the victims, he said. “I should have come here earlier to express my regrets and express condolences to the people who have ended up here in an awful way."

More than 10,000 people were killed or disappeared during the Sarajevo siege. Overall, the Bosnian war claimed more than 100,000 lives.
