British Court Jails 11 For Terror Plot

Eleven men have been given jail sentences for planning a terror attack in Britain with the approval of Al-Qaeda.

A judge in southeast London on April 26 handed ringleader Irfan Naseer a sentence of life imprisonment, Irfan Khalid a sentence of 18 years, and Ashik Ali a sentence of 15 years.

The others received lesser sentences.

The group, whose members were all British Muslims, was accused of planning to set off eight rucksack bombs in crowded areas and possibly other timed devices.

At least six of the 11 plotters involved in the conspiracy traveled to Pakistan for terror training.

Judge Richard Henriques told the accused, "Your plot had the blessing of Al-Qaeda and you intended to further the aims of Al-Qaeda."
