Reports from the restive Russian North Caucasus republic of Daghestan say at least two police officers were injured when a military convoy accompanied by police came under fire as it passed through the town of Khasavyurt.

Security officials say an operation has been launched to apprehend the attackers.

The incident was reported following a violent weekend in Russia's Caucasus republics.

A suicide bombing at a funeral in neighboring Ingushetia on August 19 killed eight policemen.

Ingushetia has declared a three-day period of mourning for those victims.

On August 18, masked gunmen attacked worshippers at a Shi'ite mosque in Daghestan, wounding eight people.

Violence involving Islamic militants and security forces in Russia's North Caucasus -- which includes Daghestan, Chechnya, and Ingushetia -- causes hundreds of deaths and injuries each year.

that's right! US government, its NATO minions and Saudis are actively working to implement a series of peaceful protests during Winter Olympics in Sochi. The US-sponsored peaceful protests will involve:
1. suicide bombings
2. taking dozens of hostages and killing some or all of them
3. setting up explosions using CIA-supplied remotely-controlled detonators

The annual August/early September spike in violence in the North Cs. Tragic, of course, but nothing really new or notable. The militants can't really pull off really damaging attacks anymore and the Russian security services can contain but not wipe out the militants. No war, no peace.

Makar don't be so happy in about 12 more years tens of thousands Russian troops will die a day. Its normal training ground for hunters. Your spiritual leader Putin is regretting his words "mochit v sortire". Sortirs are everywhere now. Including Tatarstan and Bashkirtostan.
