Silly Dictator Story #11: Tough Day For Dictators Banned From Olympics

Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has had a tough year running a tight ship back in Belarus, including fending off EU sanctions, expelling ambassadors, and showing some tough love toward Belarus’ Olympic athletes.

To top it off, not only will Lukashenka not be able to attend this evening's Olympics opening ceremony in London, but he was officially outed on Twitter by State Duma Deputy Speaker and Russian National Committee head Aleksandr Zhukov.

In the spirit of the Olympics and for all the banned leaders (we mean you, Assad and Mugabe), this cartoon by RFE/RL's Belarus Service cartoonist, ДЛ (DL), says it all.

You are barking at the wrong label standing at the wrong tree.
Belorus isn't under dictatorship of Lukashenka own making,
But under semi-colonizing "Spetcnaz" - Russia dictating.
Most genuin Beloruss frictions - "Is it colony or free?"

But they are evil, yes - where Russia give orders.
Belorussian team was core of assassins groups
That destroy me, they infected me - be murdered
After I helped stop Russia invade Georgia in 2008.

Emergency for three days used on me antibiotics,
I am still not totally cured, but hey continue to do it
To me and my mother, threatened - used CIA too,
To kill us both and 7/7/2012 my mother was killed.
They are evil, helping Russia expand evil and boo.
Creator, save mother's soul - vengance is yours!

About This Blog

Written by RFE/RL editors and correspondents, Transmission serves up news, comment, and the odd silly dictator story.
