WATCH: Police patrol outside badly damaged buildings in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, after a suicide attack late on August 30 killed at least nine people.

Police say three suicide bombers are suspected of being behind a deadly attack in Grozny, the capital of Russia's restive southern republic of Chechnya.

Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said the number of people killed in the attack had reached nine. Earlier, police said 22 people were injured.

The attack late on August 30 near the parliament compound was one of the deadliest in recent years in Grozny. It took place during celebrations marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Officials said one bomber blew himself up when a police patrol tried to detain him. Two others set off their explosives when police and bystanders gathered at the scene.

The dead reportedly include seven police officers and one emergency-services worker.

'Zombified Bandits'

Chechnya's Moscow-backed leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, described the bombers as "trained and zombified bandits" who have "blackened the most sacred day for all Muslims."

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov
Eid al-Fitr is a "sacred holiday," Kadyrov added. "It is a holy day for Muslims. But they brought a tragedy to us."

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the explosions, but Kadyrov blamed the blasts on fighters of Doku Umarov -- the Chechen rebel warlord who has been linked to other recent deadly attacks on Russia.

"It is Doku Umarov's group that is behind [these attacks]," Kadyrov said. "Our task now is to find them. Once again they have shown that they are not human, they are not Muslims, and that human life means nothing to them."

Russia's Most Wanted Man

Umarov, the self-styled "emir of the Caucasus Emirate" and Russia's most wanted man, leads an insurgency aimed at carving out an independent Islamic state across the region.

Chechen Islamist rebel leader Doku Umarov
He has claimed responsibility for ordering the Moscow airport bombing last January that killed 36 people and injured 180.

He also has said he was responsible for the March 2010 suicide bombings on Moscow's subway system, which killed 39 people. Russian authorities also blame Umarov for ordering the November 2009 bombing of a train from Moscow to St. Petersburg that killed 26 people.

Kadyrov called an emergency government meeting after the attacks on August 30.

The Kremlin has been fighting insurgents in the North Caucasus since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union, waging a war from 1994 to 1996 against separatist rebels in Chechnya.

After a second war in Chechnya in 1999, the rebellion's inspiration moved toward Islam with the aim of imposing an Islamic state in the region.

Although the second war ended in 2000, rebels have waged an increasingly deadly insurgency. A decade later, the unrest has spread into other areas of the North Caucasus.

Last October, the Chechen parliament was attacked by a small group of militants who killed three people before being killed or blowing themselves up.

In August 2010, militants also carried out a large-scale attack on Kadyrov's home village.

It is not a secret that most suicide bombers and the families of suicide bombers are being paid by Saudis which are allies of US government. It is done with tacid support and encouragement of US government, including RFERL outlet which expressed support for Muslim terrorists on multiple ocasions. Support of Muslim terrorism is US government policy.

Hey Arizona boy why don't you tell that to Mexicans and Native Americans who your ancestors murdered in tens of millions? I am not surprised that Americans support Russians. Both are murdering thugs.

We're back to Vladimir Lenin's game ("Who whom?...") again, are we?

The crimes of the Great Britain, US, Germany, etc. don't ipso facto justify Muslim crimes. Just because "WASPs did it first!" doesn't give Muslims license to kill (their own people?) in retribution for past (or present) crimes.

The "unholy mess" of the North Caucasus is simply perpetuated by the self-perpetuating cycle of revenge killings sponsored by Great Britain, Russia, the US, the "North Caucasus Emirate" (or whoever...) at the expense of Muslim (or "WASP") lives.

Do you really believe the Moscow regime sheds tears when Muslims blow each other up? Or even when they blow up much-abused Russian soldiers? (...The Russians already have a record of blowing up their own people in their usual counter-terrorist operations...) Or isn't it really the case that Moscow sponsors terrorist acts in the North Caucasus as an excuse for the continuing Russian reign of terror?

The "un-holy war" in the North Caucasus will only end when Chechens & Inguish & Pssetes & Abkhaz etc, finally wise up & stop blowing each other & themselves up... And establish a Chechen (Ingush, Abkhazian etc.) state capable of standing up to Russia & maintaining non-violent relations among Chchens, Ingush,. Ossetes, Abkhaz... Oh, yeah. And WASPs, too.

You are not fooling Caucasus peoples. You are either working for Kremlin or other European agency which is by definition hostile to Caucasus. We do not believe your lies. We believe Alla Dudaeva, ethnic Russian and wife of the first president of Chechenia Dzhokhar Dudaev killed by Russian terrorits with the USA help. Alla Dudaeva in the interview made it clear that Dokka Umarov is one of the commanders of Chechen and Caucasus forces.

http://www.apsny.ge/interview/1258412302.php

"[Interviewer]:There are two different wing of the resistance: the peace, in the person of Ahmed Zakayev and armed, in the face of Doku Umarov. Zakayev in an interview with radio station "Svoboda" said that does not support radical action and opposed the killing of Chechens at the hands of the Chechens. Moreover, he said that Umarov acting on the Kremlin's plan, although it did not directly accuse. In turn, the wing Umarov issued Zakayev 'death sentence'. In connection with a softer stance Zakayev Kadyrov (most of the Kremlin), occurred even plans for its "reconciliation", but plans remained plans. What is the balance of power now, what methods are more supportive of the Chechen society? For whom is the real Chechen resistance?

[Alla Dudaeva]: Akhmed Zakayev does not represent "peace wing" of resistance and has no relationship to any state CR-Ichkeria, nor the resistance of the Chechen people, "embodying" only himself. After a failed provocation, attempts to create their "government" in Europe, the former foreign minister, Akhmed Zakayev, continues to declare "Chechenization" of the conflict with Russia! " Deliberately "forgetting" about the main reason - the Russian troops that occupied Ichkeria! Not so long ago, in a recent interview, Zakayev called the puppet "government" of Kadyrov - legitimate! But how can the power imposed upon them by tanks, to be legitimate? And what kind of resistance to this power Zakayev, can we talk?
To stop the killing of people, we must demand the withdrawal of Russian troops and the restoration of legitimate authority throughout the territory of the CR-Ichkeria, only then will peace on Chechen soil ...
As for the resistance - it includes the whole spectrum of struggle of the Chechen people - as part of military and political, informational, civic, and religious. Its unity in the main - the territory should be freed Ichkeria! A "wings", the "head" and other "spare parts" - is an attempt to drive a wedge between us.
The Chechen resistance is not only a volunteer guerrilla army of young volunteers, led by Dokka Umarov in the occupied territories. But, and Chechen refugees in Europe, public and political leaders - veterans of the two Russian-Chechen wars, wounded and former prisoners of filtration Russian camps, which are huge political and information activities to help the Chechen people and all oppressed peoples. They make statements, declarations to the international community and protest against the imperial policies of the Kremlin."

If being splattered into smoking chunks of burning flesh is glorifying allah and becoming a martyr, why doesn't Doku Umarov join the ranks of the martyrs who've been glorified by his hand? Instead of blowing up zombified recruits stupid enough to die in his glorious cause?...Kadyrov is a despicable murderer & torturer & etc., But when he says the Chechen suicide bombers have been "zombified," he knows whereof he speaks (having some experience in that line...). The Chechen black wodows who blew themselves up in the Moscow subway, for example, were picked up off the streets, doped up with heroin, outfitted with suicide belts, & detonated by remote control by cell phone from the glorious "freedom fighters" & warriors of allah like DU who "claim credit" for the op.... And the really disgusting thing is that both Kadyrov & Umarov are probably on the payroll of the Russian FSB (KGB) (see Chechen press article on DU: Amir & Agent). So the suicide bombers die for nothing.... As for US gvmt. support for terror... The US was strongly opposed to Russian "counter-terror" ops in Chechnya & Afghanistan... Until 911. Then Russia's war on terror became our war. And the Afghani mujahadeen (Al Qaeda & friends) we supported against the Russians became our enemies... Which just proves there's no winners, no martyrs, no heroes in this counter-terrorist/terrorist war. Just, like Russian stooge & FSB man Kadyrov says, "zombified" victiims doped up & blown up by their supposed friends & allies in a dubious cause...The war on terror...

Wahahaha. The stupidest comment I've ever read. If you want to defeat terrorism why are you sitting on the RFERL forum? You can take an Ak-74 or M-4 and go to the front line: the Caucasus or Afghanistan, your choice. If your leaders Medvedev or Obama want to defeat terrorism tell them to do the same why sit behind much-abused Russian or American soldiers? At least Doku Umarov is on the front line since 1994 and he was an active participant in every war Russians started against Chechnya.

We would like to thank our American brothers especially the NSA and the CIA for the help they provided us in crushing up Chechen independence from 1994. Thank you very much for the financial support and the military equipment which helped us to eliminate the terrorist leader Dzhokhar Dudaev in April 21, 1996. Those fools Chechens thought you were helping them. Haha what a bunch of noble savages. Thank you very much again. From Russia with love.
