European Election Monitors 'Can't Get A Meeting' With Putin

A group of European vote monitors say they have been denied a meeting with Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin because of his busy schedule.

According to the Interfax news agency, Tiny Kox, the head of the observers from the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), was told in Moscow that "a meeting does not fit into Mr. Putin's plans."

Kox also told reporters that the PACE team has met the other four candidates in the presidential race and heard claims that Putin is using his political clout to boost his campaign publicity.

"The candidates that my colleagues and I met also complained about the continuing use of administrative resources by the candidate who is now prime minister, as well as a biased media and a declared a loss of confidence in the electoral administration," he said.

The criticism from the other candidates is an apparent reference to Putin's frequent appearances on state television.

In a statement issued last month, the PACE delegation said the low level of public confidence in the electoral system "demanded a major overhaul of the election administration," and cited "a pressing need for an impartial referee to oversee voting in Russia."

Putin has a history of testy relations with foreign vote monitors and in December accused the U.S. State Department of inciting opposition rallies, which followed that month's contested parliamentary polls.

Since then, the prime minister's team has organized increasing numbers of rallies to support Putin as a national leader who would guarantee Russia's sovereignty.

A rally in support of Putin on February 11 drew a crowd of some 2,000 people in the Siberian city of Chita despite temperatures of minus 30 degrees Celsius.

The Russian prime minister is the overwhelming favorite to beat four weak rivals in a March 4 ballot that should hand him a third term as president.

He served as president in 2000-2008 and then as premier for the past four years before deciding to swap jobs with his hand-picked successor Dmitry Medvedev.

Putin is right ask them to go to Italy and ask how many people voted for Monti? Sort your own house out before looking at someone elses!

Western media have been playing every game in the book to influence the vote against Putin - is this democratic? Its not working!! But ask why are they doing it? Who gains from a weak leadership in Russia?

We look forward to VV's return to balance the World as well as stabilise Russia.

The Western press does seem to take an anti-Putin stance, but if their polling stations are denied, it's hard to remain neutral.

As for accusations the West is behind the current protests, I disagree. I believe they are the Russian middle class voicing their frustrations. To me, the US has nothing to do with it, since we have our own major problems, and we have our own protestors, the Occupy movement. It's not hard to believe that Russians get frustrated with their government too, and they want the world to hear it. Therefore, for the Russian government to say the West is behind the protests has no merit, but it's a good political spin, since "your enemy's enemy is your friend."

US is always playing games in everyone else backyard and its impossible to deny. The exact nature of the games and how they play them are rarely know in detail.

See link http://www.voltairenet.org/Lies-and-truths-about-Syria to understand some of the games in Syria right now. The true story in Libya still has me dying of shame to be British but this game has castrated the UN as its consequence. How and extaly why the Georgian war was started is well known in military circles but you have to dig very deep to find this truth but see Russia's technological adjustments in its military since for the clues!

I suggest you not be so naive about the agenda in Russia of the USA!

Let's see now: PACE as in Performance and Cost Evaluation, or P.A.C.E. as in Precision Analogue Computing Equipment. No monitors from China, Malaysia, Philippines, South Africa, Latin America, Singapore, Australia, to name but a few candidate countries ... ?

It is even funny: first Hillary Clinton, according to mass media info, spends entire days unsuccessfully trying to get in (telephone) contact with the Russian FM Lavrov (understandably though: as long as her own husband pays too little attention to her, she is trying to engage other men into conversations .-).
And now this group of PACE electoral observers are desperate to have a least of sign of attention from Putin :-). I mean like, really, since the US and EU are going bankrupt, there is ever less interest from foreign dignatories in having any contact with them :-(.

You are talking about technical fearness of elections,
That is just formality to wich the West is well adapted,
Skilfully sircumvented by money and influence classes.
As in newly democratic election fearness was effected,
Now it dominishing too. I am concearn about substance.

Active magority of Russia support new expanding Russia,
Scilfully lying to Russians and to World on non-Russians,
Scilfully provoking USA and West and smearing provoked,
Scilfully manipulating very right to live USA and Euro-Asia
And cuting-off the Labours and Intelligencia using violance.

Churkin, for instance, said on "Charly Rose show" in USA that West liked Eltcin and did not criticized him like Putin, West do not like - imagine that!

Eltcin was more real Russian than Putin, that took upon
himself role and risk to change USSR, usurped by Russian
Varaga-Prussaka, through him democracy and independence transformed by us usurped USSR into CIS.
Not withstanding his misstakes and later being hypnotized
by the evil of Russia and the "Third Force", he was given
oportunity to become a Russian versus of symbol of Global
changes and democratisation.

Putin was just a backup on the safe part, having experience
in spying business to watch Superpower's ballance internal
threats.
Unfortunately, Eltcin wasn't able dominish that much the
"Third Force" of imperial resurection, being made sick
by them, while Putin simce dealing with them
(as do Medvedev) with respect of expanding Russia and
annexing neighbour's lands, and fashisizing Russia -
for Varanga-Prussaka only - not even for strait and honest
Russian labour and intelligencia...

Mr. Putin is not up to European observers, his head is crammed with ideas how to make the Russian population to vote for him.
At this time, a new promise that in 2030 everything will be fine.
Thank you, Mr. Putin- it's a great promise.

----------.Khrushchev in 1960 сomes to mind:"Dear Soviet people! In 1980 you will be live under communism!Free food, apartments, clothes, transport!!"
You can continue Mr Putin:"In 2030 rubber women will go to the store for beer and clean up the apartments.
Kyrgyz taxi drivers on the rockets will be serve you my dear Russians."
