Brash protesters from the famously bare-breasted Ukrainian feminist group Femen staged another assault on the Euro 2012 soccer championships that Ukraine is co-hosting along with Poland.
Femen has argued that the tournament will strengthen the foothold that prostitution has on Ukrainian economy and society and boost its sex-tourism trade.
The group has pledged a campaign of stunts targeting football's second-most-profitable tournament.
In the
second storming of the cup within a week, activist Inna Shevchenko on May 21 duped officials into letting her onstage with the championship trophy on the Dnipropetrovsk leg of its whistle-stop tour to promote the tournament before dropping her top to reveal the words "F*ck Euro 2012."
The topless 21-year-old also grabbed the trophy before being dragged off by security. Another activist -- reportedly a French journalist who supports the cause -- immediately followed suit.
Here's Femen's own video of the incident and the preparations:
The Euro 2012 tournament has provided nothing but headaches so far for the government, with foreign leaders vowing to stay away unless jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko -- Ukraine's best-known political prisoner (according to Amnesty International) -- receives better treatment.
