Casualties Reported In Fighting On Chechnya-Daghestan Border

Chechen Republic leader Ramzan Kadyrov says fierce fighting in eastern Chechnya along the border with neighboring Daghestan has left dozens dead and injured.

Russian news agencies have quoted Kadyrov as saying that a band of some 20 militants led by Magarbi Timiraliyev (aka Abudar) was "destroyed" on February 17.

It is not clear if Timiraliyev is among the dead.

Seven of the fighters were apparently killed on Friday, while 13 fighters from the band were reported killed earlier.

In an operation by security forces in the region over several days, 13 government troops were killed and 20 injured.

Kadyrov said the operation was being conducted in conjunction with security forces in Daghestan and is continuing.

He said the mountains were being cleared of resistance fighters because "construction of a tourist complex is getting under way.

Daghestan will be free and happy ! Russia will cry for his sons, if they will continue to invade our lands. we do not want Russians in here, we do not want Natasha or İgor or İvan...go home Sasha ! never come back.

"resistance fighters" in RFE/RL terminology = Islamic terrorists in my book. The folks like Umarov, late Basaev and so on used terror against random people and their goal is N. Caucasus Caliphate. They do not get any sympathy from me. Putin's creature Kadyrov is another dangerous thug responsible for kidnapping and murder of his rivals. Ultimately, I really wish that Russia will get decent government that can bring civilized law and order to the entire Russia and especially to North Caucasus free of Jihadists and Putin's stooges like Kadyrov.

You Russians are so paranoid. The USA wishes you the best. As far as I know CIA was established in 1947. USA was founded 1776. Stupid Russian heads were rolling in the Caucasus since 16th century. Your RIA news agency reports that 17 police were killed and 24 wounded vs 7 Caucasian freedom fighters. Calm down. The toilet lover, who now regrets about his words, V.Putin achieved nothing for 12 years of war.

Russian casualties, Internal Ministry troops (MVD) only: 21 dead, 36 wounded. Total number 57. Casualties of Russian army, black ops, and other branches which were involved in the operation not included.
Rebel casualties: 7 dead, 0 wouded. Total number 7.
