French officials say the leader of the Russian soccer supporters' association has been detained in France, two days after being deported to Moscow.
Aleksandr Shprygin “was arrested this evening” in the southwestern city of Toulouse, an Interior Ministry spokesman said on June 20.
Shprygin earlier posted a video on Twitter that had been filmed inside Toulouse's stadium ahead of Russia's Euro 2016 match against Wales.
He had been expelled following violence at Russia's game with England in the southern French city of Marseille June 11.
Shprygin was among 43 Russian fans held last week. Three of them were given jail sentences of up to two years.
The arrests angered Moscow, which summoned the French ambassador to protest.
Shprygin, president of the Russian Supporters Union, is close to Russia's ultranationalist Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) and is an aide to Igor Lebedev, a deputy chairman of the State Duma and son of the LDPR's founder, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
