Police in the Georgian capital say two explosions have hit Tbilisi, killing one person and injuring another.

The first blast near premises belonging to the opposition Labor Party killed a woman sleeping in a nearby building before dawn today.

A Labor spokeswoman said the victim lived across the street from the party offices. She said the blast broke windows and cracked walls in the party offices.

There was a second explosion about 20-30 minutes later in another part of the capital.

A spokesman for the Georgian Interior Ministry declined to comment on the cause of the blasts or possible motive, saying an investigation was under way.

The Labor Party, an adamant opponent of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, holds six out of 150 seats in parliament.
