U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has dismissed Iran's latest threats against Israel as "nothing new," insisting she would judge Tehran by its actions at upcoming nuclear talks.

Clinton, speaking at a news conference in Stockholm, said she was looking forward to what Iran would bring to the table in Moscow for the June 18-19 talks with major world powers. Clinton insisted that she would like to see a diplomatic resolution "for everyone's sake."

Her comments came after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei cast a shadow over prospects of a resolution with a fiery speech that threatened to respond "like thunder" to any act of aggression by Israel, which is said to be considering military strikes against Tehran's nuclear facilities.

"[Israel] know that under these conditions they are more vulnerable than before," Khamenei said. "If they take any miscalculated action, they will receive a thunderous blow."

Khamenei made the statements in a speech marking the 1989 death of his predecessor and the founder of Iran's Islamic republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. He also accused the West of lying about Iran's nuclear program.

"International politicians and media speak of a nuclear Iran, that a nuclear Iran is dangerous. I say they are lying. They are being deceitful," he said. "The thing they are really scared of and they should be scared of is not a nuclear Iran but an Islamic Iran."

The United States and other Western countries suspect Iran of working to acquire a nuclear weapons capability. Tehran insists its program is for peaceful purposes and within its rights.

In Baghdad last month, the six world powers -- the UN Security Council's five permanent members, plus Germany-- demanded that Iran stop uranium enrichment in return for incentives such as spare parts for civilian planes.

Iran's enrichment of uranium at 20 percent -- the highest which Iran has publicly acknowledged -- has worried Western leaders. Tehran has said it may consider suspending 20-percent enrichment only if the West commits to lift recently toughened economic sanctions, including restrictions on the import of Iranian oil.

Aha, I remember (from one film by Michael Moore) how Condoleezza Rice dismissed a 2000 report according to which "militant groups were preparing an attack with airplanes on the WTC". As history has shown, that was one smart decision :-).
And now Hillary Clinton dismisses "Iran's threats against Israel" - so one can already imagine the future of this "great" country :-).

Mrs. Clinton looks evil. It is amazing how people's eyes tell a lot about what is in their hearts.
Israel with more than 200 atomic bombs is more dangerous to the world peace than any other country in the world. It is a country build on aggression and abuse of human rights. they invaded its neighbours more than 10 times in the past 10 years.

We do not occupy any lands that does not belong to us. Israel did. It occupied the West Bank and the Golan Heights since 1967 and keeps building on these occupied land against the international law. It is an apartheid state. We are not. It puts children in jail without trial. we don't. So, what are you talking about?

Clinton is a persona non grata as far as Iran is concerned. Nither Iran is seeking a certificate from the United States, as Clinton says "would judge Tehran by its actions at upcoming nuclear talks". Today the main concern in the world community should be the aircraft carriers that are deployed in the Persian Gulf. These are nuclear powered ships which means a live working nuclear reactor is inside the ship. Iran says it can puncture the ship with its most advanced weapons. It will mean a disaster like Chernobyl or Fukushima in the center of the Persian Gulf. There are 6000 young American lives on the ships and there are two such ships. It will be these poor ill fated 12000 young men and women who will be exposed to nuclear radiation. There will be no way all 12000 can be rescued. Hundreds will be captured by Iran forget about the tens of billions charge to the american taxpayer. It is therefore strongly urged to the concerned to de-commission these ships or alternately shift them out of the region permanently. These ships are outdated, they were use in the second WW when the enemy was scarcely armed. These ships cannot be used as a force in the modern world. Deploying these ships is a tactic to scare low IQ people as the United States thinks the Iranians are. It is actually exactly the opposite. THROW THEM OUT !!

Neither Iran's nuclear program, Israel's aggression, nor American intervention will lead to conflict.

It is the bigmouth policy of every single idiot in this game that keeps feeding the fire.

Very well put. Nobody can afford, either fiscally or otherwise, to finish something they start of much magnitude with Iran currently, nor could Iran fare much better. There is a lot of hot air being blown around by the leaders of every country in this "game."
