Iran Reportedly Lifts Its Ban On Reuters News Agency

An Iranian semi-official news agency says a court has lifted a ban on the Reuters news agency, allowing it to restart its operations in Iran.

The report on May 11 by the Iranian Students’ News Agency quotes Deputy Culture Minister Mohammad Jafar Mohammad Zadeh as saying that the court's verdict was delivered to an attorney for Reuters on May 10.

Reuters was banned by Iranian authorities after publishing a report on martial arts training for Iranian women in April 2012.

Based on reporting by AP, ISNA, and the BBC

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
