Iranian Suicide Bomber Kills Two

A suicide bomber blew himself up close to a mosque in Iran’s southern province of Sistan-Baluchistan, killing two people.

The semiofficial Fars news agency said the victims were members of the Basij paramilitary force.

Local media said the bomber set off his explosive belt a few hundred meters from the Imam Hossein mosque in the port city of Chabahar.

State television reported the explosives detonated after the bomber was stopped by security guards as he tried to enter the mosque where people gathered for Friday Prayers.

It said several people were injured by the blast, including police officers.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Sunni extremist group Jundallah has been responsible for several large-scale attacks inside Sistan-Baluchistan, which is adjacent to Pakistan.
