IS Militants Post Video Showing Beheading Of Kurdish Fighter

Islamic State (IS) militants have posted a video showing the beheading of a captured Kurdish fighter in Iraq.

The video, released on August 28, warns Iraqi Kurdish leaders to end military cooperation with the United States, which has been carrying out air strikes against the militants in northern Iraq.

The execution was carried out in front of the Great Mosque of Mosul, a city controlled by IS militants.

The footage shows 14 other purported Kurdish Peshmerga fighters wearing orange prison jumpsuits.

The video says they will be killed if the Kurdish regional government does not severe ties with Washington.

The video was released just a day after IS issued footage of the killings of at least 160 Syrian government soldiers captured in northern Syria.

Earlier this month, IS released a video showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

Based on reporting by AFP and the "Daily Mail"

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
